Position Description:

The Tanzania Tourist Board (TIB) is a Government organization, established under the Tanzania Tourist Act, CAP 364. The main functions of the Board include the promotion of Destination Tanzania, encouraging tourism development, and fostering an understanding within Tanzania the importance and economic benefits of the tourist industry. The Board is looking for a suitably qualified Tanzania citizen, who is a team player with excellent interpersonal relations and communication, organizational prowess and a penchant for details, and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines; to fill the Post of DIRECTOR OF MARKETING.

Major activities of the job:

• To develop the Board's business and marketing strategy;

• To monitor the performance of the Board's marketing initiatives to see if the key performance indicators are being achieved.

• To develop market programs with quantifiable objectives.

• To plan and oversee the design and production of all promotional aids and materials for distribution locally and overseas.

• To decide on the various means of distribution and promotional aids

• To coordinate the participation in various promotional campaigns and trips, trade fairs and educational tours.

• To oversee the compilation and maintenance of an up to date tourism database and prepare the quarterly and annual reports

• To initiate and coordinate domestic tourism awareness campaigns

• To prepare and monitor the overall marketing and business development budget

• To analyse market trends, recommend changes to marketing and business development strategies.

• To supervise staff under the marketing directorate.

• To do any other related duties as may be directed by the Managing Director

Qualifications


• A holder of a Master's Degree in Tourism Marketing or Tourism Management from a recognized institution, with at least 10 years of proven experience, five of which in a senior position, performing similar duties.

• An undergraduate Degree in Tourism Marrketing or Tourism Management or closely related field, would be an added advantage.

Further desired attributes

• Excellent command (almost as a native speaker) of English language and excellent command of Kiswahili; Knowledge of an additional foreign language, other than English, would be an added advantage.
