Position Description:
The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) is a world class regulatory authority responsible for licensing, tariff regulation and quality of service regulation of the electricity, water, petroleum and natural gas sectors. EWURA has the following vacancy for which suitably qualified Tanzanian citizens are invited to apply.
Reporting to: Principal Internal Auditor
The Senior Internal Auditor will be responsible for carrying out monthly and quarterly performance audit on the operations of sectors regulated by EWURA with a view to suggesting operational improvements. The aspirant must have experience in audit or have experience in audit or have experience in any of the sectors regulated by EWURA.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Assess the effectiveness of monitoring and inspections activities
• Undertaken by the Authority in the petroleum, electricity, natural gas and water and sewerage sectors.
• Assist in the preparations of audit programs on operational Audit for all sectors regulated by EWURA.
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with all divisions, understanding changes to operational and regulatory processes and procedures and assessing the impact on the control environment.
• Draft high quality reports and make oral presentations expressing opinions recommendations to auditors on the economy, efficiency and effectiveness with which auditable activities are carried out.
• Follow up on the progress of implementation of Directors on regulatory matters.
• Take part in the divisional risk assessment process and heighten awareness of major exposures, loss potential, and/or transactional anomalies and facilitate discussions of practical ways to manage or avoid risks.
• Review operations and programs to ascertain whether results are consistent with established objectives and goals.
• Perform any other relevant duties as may be assigned by superiors from time to time.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate for this position should have:
• Bachelor Degree or equivalent in engineering with specialty in electrical, chemical, mechanical, civil or water engineering from a recognized university or higher learning institution
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to propose well founded conclusions • Ability to think and apply creative and constructive thinking to audit recommendations for improvement to internal processes, controls, procedures and policies
• A minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience in reputable organization.
• Working experience (particularly auditing or inspection) in any of the sectors regulated by EWURA, that is, electricity, petroleum, natural gas and water and sewerage will be an added advantage.
