Position Description:
Qualifications:
• University Degree in Accountancy, Advanced Diploma in certified Accountancy or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution with at least three years post-graduate working experience in the field of accountancy in a reputable organization.
• Knowledge of Computer applications is essential.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• To check and ensure that all financial transactions are processed promptly and accurately according to accounting procedures and standards.
• To check documents that support and facilitate claim and payment before payment is effected to verify accuracy, validity and authenticity and take appropriate action according to standing operation procedures.
• To keep and maintain proper payroll records of employees, deduct and remit statutory deductions to authorized receivers according to standard accounting practices and relevant laws and regulations.
• To check and ensure that daily collections are receipted and banked and ensure that payment vouchers, receipt books, cheque books and other accounting records are kept in safe custody.
• To maintain control accounts and prepare trial balance and assist in preparation of final accounts according to Standard Accounting Practices.
• To advise on financial policies, procedures and controls aimed at maintaining integrity of the accounting system thereby prevent fraud and theft.
• To maintain fixed assets register and ensure that it is up to date.
• To carry out any other relevant duties as may be assigned by his or her superior.
