Overall Responsibilities

In conjunction with the Head of Twaweza, the Management Coordinator will provide technical and operational management support to Twaweza programs through fostering greater synergies, coordination and learning across the three countries; scanning the development environment for ideas and lessons and having them inform Twaweza’s work; supporting the effective and efficient management of Twaweza workplans, budgets and reporting; facilitation of information flow and sound-outs among managers on key issues to further program goals and help get things done, and supporting the Head on critical matters.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Analyze key global developments in relation to Twaweza themes and goals and inform unit and country managers through sharing links, distilled summaries and documents to support continuous learning and improvements;

2. Work with the Head of Twaweza to refine program approaches and technical frameworks that will contribute to sharpening program effectiveness;

3. Offer advisory support to country and unit managers to make operations as well delivery of results effective and efficient, strengthen coordination and synergies across the three country programs and with Uwezo;

4. Oversee overall investment strategy and standards, including quality assessments and documentation to ensure maximum innovation, effectiveness and accountability;

5. Oversee process of compiling annual and quarterly plans, budgets and reports, including preparation for management reviews, ensure quality and effectiveness;

6. Together with relevant managers, develop systems and tools for partnership management and documentation, including contracts and output and effects monitoring; and promote transparency, feedback and analysis;

7. Facilitate information flow among programs to ensure that key developments, lessons and proven working practices are shared in a timely manners;

8. Carry out quality checks on program operations; procedures and documents to ensure compliance to standards, support managers on them as needed;

9. Collect data from other Twaweza units and country programs on a continuous basis and avail it in forms that can be used for program learning and decision making by the Head of Twaweza and the Management Team;

10. Undertake correspondence with interested parties on overall Twaweza program issues;

11. Help manage effective and efficient working relationships with donors;

12. Support monitoring, evaluation and learning agenda of the organization;

13. Advise and support the Head of Twaweza upon request in preparation of key engagements.

General Responsibilities

1. Successfully implement above responsibilities and assigned activities (and associated budgets) in work plans, consistent with Twaweza Policies.

2. Review and monitor compliance to Twaweza policies, regulations, guidelines and procedures.

3. Undertake any other lawful tasks as may be assigned by the Supervisor.


Core Qualifications

1. An advanced degree in a relevant field;

2. Minimum 5 years demonstrable working experience in senior management and coordination of teams and processes;

3. A keen understanding of and work experience in EA country and regional political and social developments/dynamics;

4. Strong analytical and conceptual skills, and ability to apply these in program development;

5. Excellent organizational skills; ability to multi-task and manage complex simultaneous processes, communications and actions.

6. Strong affinity with the thinking behind the Twaweza concept;

7. Demonstrated team working qualities, and ability to foster teams to deliver quality results on time;

8. Excellent verbal, writing (including technical reports) and communication skills in English and Kiswahili.

9. Curiosity and passion to learn, push the envelope, innovate, make unorthodox connections, take thoughtful risks and get things done.

10. Willingness to travel about once a month within the EA region as needed.
