Position Description:
The Danish Embassy in Tanzania intends to set up a basket fund (formally by the name of the Legal Services Facility) to support legal aid and paralegal service provision in Tanzania. The Facility will channel funding on an equal opportunities basis to legal aid and paralegal service providers on Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar which assist individuals to claim their rights redress grievances, and which protect fundamental human rights of the individual.
Coffey International Development has been shortlisted as the organization to set up the fund management and grant administration and other services (example developing and overseeing the adherence to fund policies and systems).
The Facility will provide fair and efficient administration of grants to promote the objectives and strategies of legal aid and paralegal organizations and provide professional services as otherwise determined by its mandate.
The Facility will operate initially, for three years with a possible two years extensions (from mid 2011)
General Qualifications:
• A relevant educational background in e.g. financial management or accounting
• Registered with a relevant professional body
• Relevant professional experience
• Fluent in English and Swahili
Specific Qualifications:
• Experience in managing and administrating donor supported grant schemes and programmes (financial management, accounting, contracting, and procurement)
• Experience in capacity building in the fields of administration, accounting, and financial management is an advantage
• Experience from working with civil society institutions is an advantage
